Do ya hate waiting? Sometimes I feel like I can't stand to wait another minute.

Dislike waiting? How about all kinds of waiting?

Are you wanting to get close to the Lord? Are you looking to the Lord to meet all your needs while asking specifically, while listening, or are you looking to yourself or perhaps to this World system to meet your needs?

Think about Hannah in the Old Testament. She waited patiently and then saw the Lord turn her sorrow into overflowing joy. Her song (see 1 Sam. 2:1-10) is a reminder that one's deep disappointment can indeed lead to fulfillment, joy, and deep delight. For those who wait on the Lord in the Lord.. even real long sometimes.. will one day discover new joy and rejoicing.

"For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition." ~ 1 Samuel 1:27

"Let patience have her perfect work; let God refine your gold; for in His time He'll show you why, and blessings great unfold." ~ Bosch

Try getting' alone to wait on the Lord.. just to know Him well. It's so worth it. Those who do not hope cannot wait; but if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Choose to hope in the Lord..out loud. He will hear you.

"'Stand still' – keep the posture of an upright man, ready for action, expecting further orders, cheerfully and patiently awaiting the directing voice; and it will not be long ere God shall say to you, as distinctly as Moses said it to the people of Israel, 'Go forward.'" ~ Charles Spurgeon

Perhaps you would like some more good thoughts on waiting?

"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9

"If any are inclined to despond, because they do not have such patience, let them be of good courage. It is in the course of our feeble and very imperfect waiting that God Himself, by His hidden power, strengthens us and works out in us the patience of the great saints, the patience of Christ Himself." – Andrew Murray

"But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ." Philippians 3:20

"If the Lord Jehovah makes us wait, let us do so with our whole hearts; for blessed are all they that wait for Him. He is worth waiting for. The waiting itself is beneficial to us: it tries faith, exercises patience, trains submission, and endears the blessing when it comes. The Lord's people have always been a waiting people." ~ Charles Spurgeon

"The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance." 2 Peter 3:9

"Biblically, waiting is not just something we have to do until we get what we want. Waiting is part of the process of becoming what God wants us to be." ~ John Ortberg

"When you approach Me in stillness and in trust, you are strengthened. You need a buffer zone of silence around you in order to focus on things that are unseen. Since I am invisible, you must not let your senses dominate your thinking. The curse of this age is over-stimulation of the senses, which blocks out awareness of the unseen world. Spending time alone with Me is the best way to develop seeing eyes and hearing ears. The goal is to be aware of unseen things even as you live out your life in the visible world." ~ JesusCalling

"What then are we to do about our problems? We must learn to live with them until such time as God delivers us from them…we must pray for grace to endure them without murmuring. Problems patiently endured will work for our spiritual perfecting. They harm us only when we resist them or endure them unwillingly." ~ A.W. Tozer

"He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" Matthew 11:15

"..while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:18

"Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!" Isaiah 6:2-3

"Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:30-33

"Wait for the Lord and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land; you will look on when the wicked are cut off." Psalm 37:34

"For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land." Psalm 37:9

"I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His Word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning." Psalm 130:5-6

If you are still waiting for God to speak to you, for Him to heal or provide something that you want, for Him to save a lost loved one, or for Him to work so that a stray returns home to Him.. then it is still too early to quit praying.

The Lord indeed knows what is best for you even when it doesn't feel like it. He won't make others do what you want, but He can influence them to do what is right. Draw close. He is the ultimate Prize. Take heart. Chin up. Sometimes His personal comforting presence is the best thing for us. He will strengthen you as a worshiper and to be an effective witness during the waiting time.
