Walkin’ In The Light—All Right!

C.H. Spurgeon wrote, “There must be light!” And you remember Who first wanted light and literally spoke it into shining (See Gen. 1:3).

There is light available for all today. God is no respector of persons in that respect.

God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. Do you believe this about Him or do you think He has some darkness in Him--that He is really out to get people? How much light have you seen and received from God?

Adam and Eve saw the light of God’s beautiful creation ..which pointed back to the more beautiful One—the Lord. Others later on in history also saw light, but sadly opted not to draw close to the Lord of light. The Bible declares, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools” (Rom. 1:20-22).

I would personally say that the order in His creation does speak of His magnificent intelligence and majestic glory! You, of course, remember how the Pharisees back in Jesus’ day had the light of the Law. What do you mean Kurt, light springing up from God’s law? Yup, and what did most of them do with it? Nothin’ real good.

The Bible says God’s law is light, “For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: to keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman” (Prov. 6:23-24).

And then there is the light of conscience that we can respond to. Yes, the Bible speaks of “..Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my Gospel” (Rom. 2:15).

What’s exciting is this: if we each properly respond to light, then our gracious God will give more light and we can walk in his light with peace. Today we have the light of life in Jesus Christ! Have you responded to Him by repentance and faith to start enjoying a loving fellowship with God? Man, you can—you were totally designed this! Have you really heard the Gospel before?

Have you said “Yes” or “No” or “Maybe to later” to this Bible Jesus (which stands as a “No”)?

Listen, to sin against revealed light is worse than to sin in complete ignorance, for to whom much is given will much be required. So how much do you know about the death, burial and physical resurrection of Christ—how much have you heard regarding the truth of the Gospel? How obedient are you to that light?

Do you currently have a lukewarm, worldly, selfish or divided heart.. or is Jesus Christ your Lord? One day there will be varying degrees of punishment in Hell, (most people won't talk about that..) but we really want no one to go there to experience any amount of punishment. God is not mean, unfair or mad at you. He is loving and just—he is pure light! The price for your sins and mine has already been generously paid in full by Christ who is literally God. That's why we continue to inform and warn people.. and do all that we can to point people to God's one and only sinless Solution, Jesus Christ!

Do you have ears to hear the truth..

do you receive God's light gladly? If so, then to you God will give more light.

Man, that is so important too, for we will all be held accountable for what we've heard, understand, know and have obediently done in His Name or according to our own willfulness.

But Kurt, what about the Pigmy in New Guinea and salvation—will the Pigmy be judged.. you might ask? Jesus addressed this in Luke 12:48, “But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripesFor unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required.”

Yup, he who has the law, will be judged by the law, he who has not the law will be judged without the law. When you and I run into something like this that we do not know for sure about, we simply need to fall back on what we do know—God is just, totally fair in the long run. I am so thankful for the light of creation, the light of the law, the light of conscience and the wonderful light of Christ. I can testify that when I have responded to light, I have indeed received more. God delights in giving us more light! Take some time and prayerfully meditate upon this following passage in it’s context and you will be changed!

"..if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; the lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more"
