What kind of dockworker, fisher, or sea captain are you?

What kind of worker are you? What kind of business is your biz?

Got a job or career? What do you want to be like in that? I say.. daily choose to make discipline, determination, and Christ centered diligence a part of your business. Why? Here’s why. It’s cuz...

Your business can glorify God when it exhibits his just and kind character, his biblical principles, and his pure love for people instead of for money. You can be used as an effective witness for Christ out in the marketplace. And you can win business people and others to faith in Christ.

Consistent, persistent smart-diligence in these days.. when you are tested believer.. will lead to stability in your life and business.

It'll lead to vitality in your righteous life, and you will have reality in your Christian life.

"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." Hebrews 11:6 nkjv

  • “Let’s be diligent in giving, careful in our living, and faithful in our praying.” ~ Jack Hyles
  • “I am afraid that the schools will prove the very gates of hell, unless they diligently labor in explaining the Holy Scriptures and engraving them in the heart of the youth.” ~ Martin Luther
  • “Are you still diligently living for God and serving Him, even in these last days? Now is not the time to ease up, but to charge forward and continue living for the Lord.” ~ Paul Chappell

Most dockworkers enjoy fishing when they are not off-loading crates or containers from the ships. Have you ever been a deckhand a.k.a. a docker (British), a longshoreman, a roustabout, a rig rouster, or a cargo stevedore before?

"Poor is he who works with a negligent and idle hand, But the hand of the diligent makes him rich." Proverbs 10:4 amp

If we refuse to take this challenge from God's word we can expect to have a lack of spiritual power and maturity. The apostle Peter told us this. You'll be short-sided even to blindness. You'll lose proper perception and become an easy target for all the false doctrines floating around. See 2nd Peter 1:9. Pete said, if you do these things you will never stumble.

You really don’t want lukewarm apathy, indifference or spiritual laziness.

“The one who diligently seeks good seeks favor, but the one who searches for evil–it will come to him.” Proverbs 11:27

Revelatory? Yup. We don't need a new revelation we already have God's revelation.. the Bible. If it's new it's not true, and if it's true it's not new. See 2 Peter 1:11, you'll be giving an entrance into heaven that's abundant. It's good to desire such abundance in your future entry, captain. It's not just about going to your destination, it's about the quality of your journey from faith-filled, red-hot-passionate, diligence. Some ships out on the sea barely make it into their port, let that not be you.

Why does Paul say we should mind our own business (1 Thessalonians 4:11)?

What does God tell us? In 2 Peter 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge.

Romans 12:11 not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.

Hebrews 6:11 We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized.

Everyday be diligent while working as unto the Lord.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatever you find to do with your hands, do it with all your might, because there is neither work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the grave, the place where you will eventually go.

Proverbs 12:24 The diligent person will rule, but the slothful will become a slave.

Proverbs 13:4 The lazy person craves, yet receives nothing, but the desires of the diligent are satisfied.

Proverbs 10:4 Lazy hands will make you poor; hard-working hands will make you rich.

Proverbs 12:27 The lazy do not roast any game, but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.

Proverbs 21:5 The plans of hard-working people earn a profit, but those who act too quickly become poor.

Daily choose to diligently seek God in prayer.

Proverbs 8:17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.

Deuteronomy 4:29 But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Always be joyful. Pray continually, and give thanks whatever happens. That is what God wants for you in Christ Jesus.

Luke 18:1 Jesus told his disciples a parable about their need to pray all the time and never give up.

Be diligent in following Jesus. Yep, in your studying and wisely applying God’s Word.

Joshua 1:8 This law scroll must not leave your lips! You must memorize it day and night so you can carefully obey all that is written in it. Then you will prosper and be successful.

Deuteronomy 6:17 You must diligently obey the commands of the LORD your God–all the laws and decrees he has given you.

Psalm 119:4-7 You have ordained Your precepts, That we should keep them diligently. Oh that my ways may be established To keep Your statutes! Then I shall not be ashamed When I look upon all Your commandments. I shall give thanks to You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments.

Work hard and smart for the glory of the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

Proverbs 16:3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

“I know a man, maybe you know him, too
You never can tell; he might even be you
He knelt at the altar, and that was the end
He's saved, and that's all that matters to him
His spiritual tummy, it can't take too much
One day a week, he gets a spiritual lunch
On Sunday, he puts on his spiritual best
And gives his language a spiritual rest

He's just a faaa...
He's just a fat little baby!
Wa, wa, waaaaa...
He wants his bottle, and he don't mean maybe
He sampled solid foods once or twice
But he says doctrine leaves him cold as ice
Ba, ba, ba, ba...ba, ba...ba, ba!

He's been baptized, sanctified, redeemed by the blood
But his daily devotions are stuck in the mud
He knows the books of the Bible and John 3:16
He's got the biggest King James you've ever seen!
I've always wondered if he'll grow up someday
He's momma's boy, and he likes it that way
If you happen to see him, tell him I said,
"He'll never grow, if he never gets fed"
He's just a fat, fat, fat, fat, fat, fa-at, fat...
Fat, Fat, Fat, Fat, Fat, Fa-at, Fat...
Fat, Fat, Fat, Fat, Fat, Fat, Fatttt...
Baby.”
