...in this pluralistic society. Yes there's been a strange shift that says all opinions are equally correct. So false.
Don't get me wrong, I indeed want to value and show respect to all people with an opinion. All have em. I once met four men dressed in bed sheets walking along the freeway at Kiest and I-35 smokin' some drugs who told me the best way was to live for and in touch with lightening from the sky. I think that would kill a person wouldn't it? Sure. So I invited them to my church and they all came there with me. But all four men only sat in there with me for some five to fifteen minutes before they one by one stood to their feet and exited the building.
They were hearing about a Person - Jesus Christ, and Him compared to other "gods" of our day an of other religions. Nobody was being put down there. They were hearing about some enlightenment movements with other opinions that were profoundly different from what the Bible says of Christianity. Jesus, He's not just one of the options for worship, but He's the only credible choice people have. There's a uniqueness with Jesus Christ and He alone is the only qualified Savior of the world. But truth is unchanging and universal - Christ said He Himself was/is the truth and He really ain't just the truth for us in the Western world.
Jesus claimed to be thee way, thee truth and thee life for you and me. Sure, He wanted us all to know that even though it's popular believe in many ways into God's holy heaven, there in reality is only one way to gain entrance there.. after we each appear before God the Father. Christ doesn't want any of us to miss entering with Him living for any beautiful but inferior thing that He created like lightening. And the way in is through Him.. through a relationship with God's sinless Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. It's via repentance and faith - being forgiven in Christ cuz we've all blown it by breaking God's laws. Might sound religious (it ain't), might sound way too narrow and exclusive for people.. because so many have fallen victim to the icon of intolerance today. Why not say it if it's so.. like I told those four men, If you live in touch with lightening very long you are gone. History.
Jesus said, "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." Matthew 7:13-14
Tolerance now means watering down the truth, tweaking it out of shape, and it's become to many in our world.. wrong to believe in absolute truth. Don't be like them. Our society has shifted from reason to feeling. People tell me "Kurt, don't think, feel." Makes me think of Ms Eve in the garden who didn't pre-think and it went bad on her.
Our society has shifted from having convictions to having mere opinions. Very few Americans will give their life for anything any more. People can't even seem to find anything worth dying for, therefore many never begin to really live. You know what.. our society is now living on the whiff of perfume from an empty vase. But I want what's genuine for you and me.
