Some of the soldiers were sent into the ghettos of Los Angeles in the 1920s to help people...

..and after three years with zero visible results, they sent their leader, Mr. Booth, a telegram which said: "It just won't work. We have tried everything. The Gospel is just not being received here."

A couple days later they received a two-word telegram back from the founder of the Salvation Army, Mr. William Booth, that said, "Try tears."

He who goes to and fro weeping, carrying his bag of seed, shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.

My eyes fail because of tears, my spirit is greatly troubled; my heart is poured out.
