A 44th President; It's History in the Making!

That day has arrived and America wants to see change. Very soon now some of us will hear…

"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Florida megachurch pastor Joel Hunter and Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, will offer prayers at the prayer service today that Barack Obama will attend before the inauguration.

Oak Cliff Texas-based, Modalist Oneness Bishop, T.D. Jakes, will preach the sermon at the service, which is closed to the public. And who is this guy? Some have said that “Bishop, T.D. Jakes” is one of the most anointed and articulate orators in this nation, some have said he is the next Billy Graham and other true Berean-types who study their Bibles have recognized him as just another rich false TV preacher who is simply posing as the real deal within the realm of the American Church. Have you checked into this stuff? 

I remember an article in the Dallas Morning News about him.. Dr. Lee, a sociology professor at Tulane University in New Orleans, wrote about Jakes' and “his incessant fund-raising, mansion-dwelling, and Bentley-driving lifestyle.” Lee is not at all at ease with where Bishop Jakes stands on such basic traditional Christian beliefs as the Trinity (even though Jakes is now using the term, with false meaning he pours into it).

Anyways, will Obama govern from the center? A new poll suggests that the majority of Americans (61%) do support Barack Obama's selection of Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at his inauguration. It would appear that Obama’s commitment is there ..to bring this country together. I pray that Obama’s public policy agenda and Christian commitment will be honest and truely reflect such a commitment.

The Washington Post reports that 23 percent opposed that Warren choice, and 16 percent expressed no opinion at all. I wonder if Rick Warren will boldly pray in Jesus’ Name today (man, there really need be no controversy. What a huge-shame that we can’t even publicly mention his lovely Name anymore when all the blessings of this nation came from Him). I guess the Bible passage Obama will recite is totally confidential until today.

Maybe it will be the same one that Abraham Lincoln quoted: "Judge not, that ye be not judged." (Matthew 7:1). USA Today's Cathy Lynn Grossman suggests that Obama should pick Deuteronomy 16:20: "That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee."

Man, I do like what Warren said to a packed house for the annual King Day service at the Ebenezer Baptist Church yesterday:

"I am a white, overweight, southern California mega-church pastor. I love you. And I reach out my hand to you and I say to you and to anyone of good will--to quote that great theologian Rodney King--‘Can we not all just get along?’" he said. "You don’t have to agree on everything. You don’t have to agree to be agreeable. You can disagree without being disagreeable. You can walk hand-in-hand with out seeing eye-to-eye.

"You know what I love about America? It’s diversity. I don’t know if you’ve figured this out, but God likes variety."

Anyways, I indeed will be rooting for our new President. Yes, and will be praying for the success of President Barack Obama,  for Joe Biden and all those working under them.
